Floor Sanding Preparation
Before any sanding begins, we take the time to properly prepare your space and flooring to ensure the best possible results. This includes removing existing coatings, checking for protruding nails or staples and securing any loose floorboards. We also recommend clearing the area of furniture and covering surfaces to minimise dust. With the right preparation, we create the ideal conditions for a clean sand and a flawless finish.
Our Floor Sanding Approach
We use high-grade sanding equipment to remove surface imperfections, scratches and old coatings from your timber floors. Each pass uses progressively finer sandpaper, ensuring a smooth surface without damaging the timber. This meticulous approach prepares the floor for staining and sealing, unlocking its natural character.
Adding the Finishing touches to your timber floors
Staining and Protective Finishes
Once the sanding is complete, staining can be applied to add depth, character and a personalised style to the timber. Following this, protective finishes seal the floor, boosting durability and resilience against everyday wear. There are three different finishes available:
- Water-based polyurethane
- Solvent-based polyurethane
- Oil-based
Each finish is available in satin, matt or gloss, allowing you to choose the perfect look for your space.
Final Touches
Polishing is the final step, involving a three-coat system that creates a gleaming, long-lasting surface. This ensures the timber’s timeless beauty is preserved for years. The entire process typically takes 4-5 days, with an additional 4 days to cure.
A Lasting Impression
Ultimately, the combination of sanding, staining, and polishing gives timber floors an elegant, warm and enduring charm, making them a stunning focal point in any design.
