Sanding and Preparation
The process begins with sanding, a meticulous step to remove imperfections, old finishes, and scratches. Using specialized equipment like drum sanders and edgers, the surface is smoothed out through a progression from coarse to fine-grit sandpaper. This reveals the raw beauty of the timber, making it ready for the next steps.
Staining and Protective Finishes
Once the sanding is complete, staining can be applied to add depth, character, and a personalized style to the timber. Following this, protective finishes seal the floor, boosting durability and resilience against everyday wear. There are three different finishes available:
- Water-based polyurethane
- Solvent-based polyurethane
- Oil-based
Each finish is available in satin, matt, or gloss, allowing you to choose the perfect look for your space.
Polishing and Final Touches
Polishing is the final step, involving a three-coat system that creates a gleaming, long-lasting surface. This ensures the timber’s timeless beauty is preserved for years. The entire process typically takes 4-5 days, with an additional 4 days to cure.
A Lasting Impression
Ultimately, the combination of sanding, staining, and polishing gives timber floors an elegant, warm, and enduring charm, making them a stunning focal point in any design.
